Our Coaches


Head Coach – Phil McMican

Coach Phil is in his third year with Power Ten and second year as Head Coach.  He is certified as a USRowing Level 2 Coach. Before joining Power Ten, Coach Phil rowed at Edgewater High School for 4 years.  He won two State Championships, one as a coxswain in the Men’s Novice 8 category and the other in the Men’s Lightweight Category, along with having success at national and international regattas. Coach Phil is a senior at UCF where he is studying Criminal Justice and plans to graduate this year.



Assistant Coach - Joe McMullin
Coach Joe started rowing at Woodbridge Senior High School in Northern Virginia and won numerous medals throughout his high school career.  He was invited to row on the junior national team in 2004 and stroked the men's eight. Coach Joe was recruited by the University of Wisconsin and rowed three years in the varsity eight.  During his senior year , Joe was in the undefeated national champion varsity eight and later that year made the men's coxed 4 for the U-23 US national team. Since then , Joe has been a volunteer coach with the freshman team at Wisconsin, which went on to take 5th place at the national championships.
